Africa

                       By Afrika M.A. Abney

Our people in Africa

are crying for nourishment and guidance

of uplifting minds, bodies, and spirits

no longer imprisoned by threats pressed upon them

wondering if they are ever going to be lifted

up beyond the chaos and confusion

where they can no longer feel the need

and anxiety to search for food

for their children

left in the wilderness of the world of Africa

searching for healing where they can be confined

to the bosoms of their mother and father

where they can

lie and embrace their mother and father with love and light

embrace them with the sacred rhythms of Mother Africa

where all are not lost and starving

but only filled with the rhythms of Mother Africa
