Brown Lorrelei

By Marcus B. Christian

I kissed a red rose once,

Buried my lips to its heart,

Wept, and whispered of things

Which only a rose may hear,

When we must part.

I kissed a red rose once,

Lips to its red heart's core

But the blood from the rose's

Heart has stained my soul

Forevermore.
