Waverly Students Share Essays 

During the months of May and June, parents, family members, and friends attend activities which bring closure to one educational experience and anticipation about what's next. Students in elementary school, middle school, high school and colleges and universities share the excitement of the times. Waverly Elementary School fifth graders wrote essays and poems to share their thought on the theme, "Concentration Is The Medication For Your Education."

Waverly students feel that this theme is appropriate for the closing of school, as well as, the beginning of a new school year. We hope that you enjoy their thoughts.

As long as I have been attending Waverly Elementary School everyone has told me that the best thing to do is to concentrate. Concentration has led me to a lot of achievements. The only way to get anywhere is to concentrate. If you can concentrate you can do anything you want to do. I believe that everyone should be capable of paying attention. Concentration holds everything together. In order to live life you have to be able to think, and in order to think, you have to be able to concentrate. It is the center of life. Anything that you do has at least a little concentration in it somewhere.

Your education is something else that holds your life together. Without your education you could be living in a dumpster with no job. Your life depends on it. Everyone should get an education because everyone deserves a chance. I personally know  that my education is my number one goal in life. I think that education is the best thing anyone could ever have. That is why Concentration is Medication for your mind.

During the year I have worked hard to concentrate on my work. I got help from the best fifth grade teachers in Baltimore.  I call Mrs. Rock, Mr. Martin, and Ms. Njenga the best 5^th grade teachers because they pushed me harder than any body. Because of these teachers I will be attending an advanced academic program for 6^th graders. When we took those stressful tests, we did our best because we meditated and concentrated. Our teachers were there to help us do our best on the CTB test, MSA,  Benchmarks and our unit tests. 

I would like to get my education and my Ph.D because I would like to become just like my educated teachers. All of my hard working teachers made me informed, smarter, and feel more positive about myself.  When I become a teacher, I am going to push my students just as my teachers pushed me and the rest of my classmates.

I really appreciate them and honor them. If I had never had these teachers, I would not be on this stage reading this essay to you. It is a blessing that I had Mrs. Rock, Ms. Njenga and Mr. Martin. Thank you.

Concentration is medication to our education means that we must work hard on whatever we do in life. I must concentrate to achieve. I want to be a lawyer so I must learn to concentrate now. I have to learn a lot. If I sit and play around with my peers, then I will not be all that I can be. So I have to concentrate and learn my work to get a good education. If I concentrate now, I won't have to worry about failing my classes in middle school and high school. 

I know that the middle school teachers don’t play. To be prepared for middle school I have to grow out of elementary school. That's what concentration is the medication to your education means to me.

The reason why I agree with the slogan, Concentration is the Medication For Your Education, because without your education you cannot go anywhere. If you go to school and learn, you can follow your dreams of being whom you want to be when you grow up.  Many times when people go to school and drop out, it is usually because the work is too hard, but if they paid attention in all grades that would not happen. Your education is one of the most important things in your life. You just have to concentrate in school.

Sometimes without an education life can take you down a path where you just don't want to go. Without just a little knowledge in your head, you could be somewhere far away and can't read the signs to get you back home. Maybe if life had no danger, you could live on this earth without an education, but now that is not the case. You have to have a least a certain amount of prior knowledge stored in your head to have a job. Without a college degree, high school diploma, a certificate or something, you could be living on the streets or in abandoned buildings. This is what your life could be like without an education.

With an education, you can go so far in life; you could be anything; it's just that you don't realize the possibilities.

Concentration is key to getting a good grade.

We took our concentration and it was our medication. With that medication, we were able to learn things that we never knew. It also helped us get from one grade to another. Today is the last day and it's time to say good-bye to all the teachers and friends we came to know. But this is how life is supposed to be, you're supposed to go on in life and learn even more things to help you achieve your goals.

Some of us may be happy to leave and some of us aren't. We have so many memories of Waverly. We have had fun days, gone to Shake n' Bake, and most of all the annual school-wide trip to the zoo. This is the one trip we have loved since pre-k. It’s hard to leave behind the things we treasure the most, even people we grew to love.

It was easy for us to know everyone in school and now we're going to a larger school with so many children. This year has finally ended. We have worked so hard to do everything that's possible to advance to middle school. We shall always treasure, love, care, and think about the good things Waverly has done for us to pass on to middle school. Teachers like Mr. Martin, Ms. Njenga, and Ms. Rock have helped kids like me apply to the advanced academics or other programs. Without them, we would not be able to graduate today.

We thank all the teachers, Mr. McKenna and Ms. Terry for caring about our futures. Without them, we would not be standing here. Thank you.

I am here to tell you that concentration is the medication to your education. I witnessed this many times this year. An example is when we had two really hard tests. The test were called the CTB and the MSA. I concentrated on each of these tests and I was able to get good grades. In fact, we all did well on these tests.

Another way I witnessed this was when we had to make a 10-foot chain. This was hard work. In the beginning, we were having troubles. But after we settled down, we were able to concentrate. This helped my group get focused and we were able to finish the task. We finished in second place!

 These are some examples of how concentration is the medication to your education. If you just take your time, then you can achieve any goal. Therefore, always remember that concentration is the medication to your education.

I agree that concentration is important because it helps me to learn just as medication helps me when I am sick. I believe concentration is important because you need to concentrate to go to higher levels. It also helps you to learn about different and important things. Like how you should do a certain job, activity, task, or any other kind of work. It teaches some people that they should always concentrate because sometimes they just don't think. And that is not right! Sometimes they just go on and say, "I think this is right, I'm not even going to check it." That is the wrong attitude. You should always concentrate because it helps you to learn different things so you can pass a test. That is why I think Concentration Is The Medication To Your Education.

This theme means that concentration is the key to what getting a good grade is all about. It also means that if you concentrate often your education will be great. If you do not concentrate on your work, your grades will get lower and lower.

Concentration in class leads to good grades, which means that you will pass tests

And go to the next grade. This means you can achieve your goal. This will lead to success in life and the career you want to choose.

If you don't take the concentrating seriously, your grades will be low; you could fail classes, not reach your goals or be successful.

That's what this theme means to me. Without education, you wouldn't be able to do anything.! Education is very, very important.

Concentration Is The Medication               By TeVaughn Hicks                              Grade 5 If you totally concentrate each day On all the lessons that are taught, You will be medicating your brain cells So that the lessons will remain in your thoughts. Now while the teachers are teaching And questions are being asked You should pay complete attention, And if the medication is being used properly, It will be proven by your quarterly grades. Right now getting the best possible education is what we need to do So take this slogan, read it each year, And make it work for you!

It helps you learn about punctuation, situations, and segregation. People give you information for education to let you know you have to Have concentration.
