In Solid

By Marcus B. Christian

How did the poor, poor colored man

Get into the grain of the tree?

How could it ever happen

No one was there to see.

Perhaps he peered in a knothole

And the tree just sucked him in

And just kept right on growing --

And the poor man grew right in.
