Life,
Women, Work & Loneliness

Life
has treated me rather well. I have wanted for little that I have
not gotten. In fact, most of the things that happened to me came
greater than anything I had dreamed of or hoped for. Way back in
life I might have expected to achieve wealth, but I am not sure
that I did. My manner of spending money marks either a complex
for a superior attitude, or a desire to impress, or a desire to
be alone. One must have a woman—even those who lacerate the
flesh of your soul. One must have intercourse with those whom he
works—that might be it. I have worked alone for so many years.
One must go out to get food to eat and must go into tow to get the necessities.
