I went before Him, stood naked I did / Wandered about in my old aimless way

Chastised myself, bowed and lowered my head  / Sank to my knees by the end of the day

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

By Liberty R. O. Daniels

He gave me such strength to conquer it all

The voice of a poet, resonant, shrill

Quiet the masses, I answered the call

Took pen to paper, made it surreal

I went before Him, stood naked I did

Wandered about in my old aimless way

Chastised myself, bowed and lowered my head

Sank to my knees by the end of the day

Felt the warmth of his hand on my cold face

He stroked my long brown hair, laid me back down,

Washed clean my body, then dressed me in lace,

Clothed me from head to foot in a white gown

I closed my sad eyes then I held my breath

Was baptized by Him before my sweet death
