On
Passing the Health Care Bill of 2010
By

A year or so ago, they had said there is
no way
The “Redistributionist-in-chief” will
have his way
No way he will dole out
their-taxed-dollars to pay
For healthcare for those bums with no
work and no say
Check again, for this lanky,
long-distance runner did find a way
It seems, to pass Health Care Bill in
this 2010 grace-filled year
And cover those thirty-two or so
millions without a say
Even those with pre-existing conditions
will have a way
His foes huffed, puffed and gyrated,
thinking to block his way
And at tea-parties, they hurled at him
all kinds of mean names:
African witchdoctor, Indonesian Muslim
madrassa,
Black Hitler, death panelist, anti-christ,
their posters say
They schemed, plotted and threatened in
all sorts of way
The leader banged on a table to declare,
“Hell no, he can’t!”
Even so, folks with ideals cheered on,
chanting, “Yes, he can!”
But see, oh Yes, he can! He could, and
at the end, oh Yes, he did!
Look over the Obamacare agenda of this
man of Providence:
Take care, he says, of our environment
and nature will us bless
The global summit on climate change
happened and is still on track.
For peace, he made the Nuclear Arms
reduction pact with Russia
Be your brother’s and your sister’s
keeper, says the Lord Christ.
And I know he will “redistribute” work
and health care to the jobless
Yes, I can even smell in the air this
summer’s construction works
Getting the jobless to fill up the
gaping trenches of the economy
Giving needed tax credits to middle
class employers of labor
With Unemployment / Immigration looming
as the next big challenge
And all these are addressed in that
historic Health Care Bill of 2010
When so much vile /venom is spewed out
just to fight against insurance caps
When those with entrenched trillions are
seen to fight with fire and brimstone
Crying “foul!” for that hand extended to
jobless students, the ailing and poor
Are we not forced to wonder, who really
living among us is the anti-Christ!
If Redistribution is a curse! did the
Lord Provider not tell all humans to
share?
There’s a lesson to take away of grit,
of a-never-say-die persistence and
Charisma, and fidelity to promises to a
mother, Kennedy, and to the Voiceless
To Hillary’s Mandate, and gratitude to
valiant efforts of Presidents before
him,
Efforts to bring to fruition this
rainbow country’s founding value of
justice to all
To make insurance a just law, and just
like the vote, a right not for a few but
for all
And lo! the earth did not split open nor
heavens fall nor did we see Armageddon
As this Law for all
came into being with the Passing of
Health Care Bill of 2010
