To Irene

          By Marcus B. Christian

The stars shine brightly --

The fog drops low --

Misty like powdered rain;

The night slips lightly --

The shadows go

And Christmas comes back again.

My heart is singing --

My soul serene --

It's flag to the breeze unfurled.

My thoughts are winging

To you Irene

The only one in the world.
